How to test Minecraft Beta Updates
The Minecraft team have done beta and snapshot update for many years now. But new people have joined and they may be confused on how to join the betas.
Betas are for the Bedrock Editions (formerly known as Pocket Edition/PE)
This will hopefully be helpful when the Update Aquatic reaches Bedrock in Beta form. (No release date). Any Apple device or Nintendo Switch cannot use a beta.
Please note: Beta is in DEVELOPMENT versions of the game. BACK UP your worlds. You CANNOT play Realms, Servers or with other friends while on the beta!
Windows 10 and Xbox One:
Installation process. They are the same process.
Step 1: Search for "Xbox Insider Hub".
This app will allow you to get early access to certain games and apps and in our case, Minecraft! It won't show up on the home page so it is important you search it and click on it.
Step 2: Install the Xbox Insider Hub.
You have to install an app if you want to play it. This app is no different. If you have a Windows 10 PC, you can install it on Xbox One and Windows 10. Once your Xbox One is booted up, it will install it.
Step 3: Load the app up.
Once the app has downloaded, you will have to load it up.
Step 4: Load up the insider content,
Once you install and launch the app, this should be the screen you are greeted with. Your best option is it navigate to the Insider Content page. A Minecraft beta should always be there for you.
Step 5: Find the Minecraft Beta.
Whether you are on Windows 10 or Xbox One, there should be a beta there ready for you. If you can see it, click on it!
Step 6: Join the beta!
Once you have completed all the steps, click on "Join". Once you join the beta, it can take a few hours to get the beta update so be patient.
Android:
Step 1: Search for "Minecraft"
You can either search for Minecraft the regular way or you can go into "Top Charts" and then go to "Top Selling Games" even though I cant guarantee Minecraft will be in the charts all the time.
Step 2: Press Minecraft
After you have located the correct Minecraft, press on it and scroll down. Scroll down until you see a Beta Program.
Step 3: Join the beta.
After you have found the correct beta, join it! Please make sure to read the small print as it is important.
Please be aware that it can take a few hours for the update to appear on your device. Please be patient.
Removal of the Beta.
Betas are fun and all to test features, report bugs and all that but maybe you want to go back to the previous full release to play with friends. It is quite simple to remove the beta actually from Windows 10, Android and Xbox One Devices.
Step 1: Press manage.
This is where you can enrol/unenroll from the beta on both Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Step 2: Press unenroll then done.
Pressing these 2 will bring you out of the beta. Once you press Unenroll then done, you are out of the beta, according to the Xbox Insider Hub.
Step 3: Uninstall Minecraft and the Xbox Insider Hub.
While in step 2 you are technically out of the beta, the game has a different version installed so uninstalling and reinstalling on both Xbox One and Windows 10 can revert you back to the previous betas.
Android:
Step 1: Leave the Beta.
In the image above is where you can leave the beta. It is the same place as where you enrolled in the beta.
Step 2: Uninstall and reinstall Minecraft.
As the same as the version on Windows 10 and Xbox One, it is required to uninstall and reinstall the game.
Again, BACK UP WORLDS! There will be bugs in this version of the game. PLEASE report them if you find ANY.
