You may be wondering why I ask this. "They work fine!" Except that there is one glaring problem. The reason the trident is balanced on Java Edition is because it has a longer attack delay than the sword, but does more damage. On Bedrock and Console Editions, however, there isn't an attack delay at all! What should be done? Well, I think I have a solution
The first move they should make is introduce the controversial combat delay into the other editions. The major difference that would solve the controversy would be the ability to still spam the sword without a delay. The damage could be reduced from 7 to 6 to make up for the attack speed. This way, spamming still works with swords, but the new mechanics can balance out the trident, axe, and other future weapons. What do you think about that idea?
