Lost Fauna is an addon that adds 19 species of Brazilian prehistoric creatures and their fossils to Minecraft. None of the animals in the addon will spawn naturally in your world as they are extinct, but you can search for their fossils and use them for different purposes. The intention of this mod is to add super interesting dinosaurs to your Minecraft with realistic animations and colorful textures so that your experience can be the best it can be, but in addition there is also the intention to present to all players from different countries and ages some species of dinosaurs that lived here in Brazil

Below is some important information to make your gameplay as fun as possible:

FOSSILS

To find the fossils you need to explore the caves in search of sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks have a dark appearance that stands out from the other rocks, and by mining this ore you can get plant fossils, dinosaur fossils, stones or bones.

V4 new ore: Marine sedimentary rock is a new ore added to the addon, when mining it you can find fossils of animals from the aquatic environment.

Search for these ores and collect as many fossils as you can, with which you can assemble complete dinosaur skeletons or extract their dna and bring prehistoric animals and plants back to life.

MACHINES

The addon adds 5 new machines (blocks) that work like a crafting table, but perform specific functions in the process of creating extinct species

See below for the functions of each machine and how to create them:

DNA EXTRACTOR

The DNA extractor is used to extract genetic material from the fossils collected. You can craft this machine using a block of iron, a block of glass and a bone on a common crafting table.

Each fossil placed in the machine is equivalent to a dna sample

DNA SEQUENCER

The DNA sequencer is a machine that will be used to assemble a dna strand and create an embryo from the dna samples that have been collected in the dna extractor. You can craft this machine with an iron block, a glass block and a water bottle on a common crafting table.

To create an embryo, it is necessary to use 3 DNA samples to form a complete DNA strand, in order to clone a dinosaur embryo from its genetic sequence.

EMBRYONIC MACHINE

The embryonic machine is used to grow the dinosaur embryo obtained by the dna sequencer and place it in an egg so that it can develop and hatch. You can craft this machine using an iron block, a glass block and a chicken egg on a common crafting table.

To create a dinosaur egg, place the embryo and a chicken egg in the embryonic machine.

PLANT CULTIVATOR

The plant cultivator is a machine that makes it possible to bring prehistoric plants back to life using the dna obtained in the dna extractor. You can craft it with a block of iron, a block of glass and a block of dirt on a common crafting table.

To create a plant, place 3 DNA samples collected in the DNA extractor, and you will be able to clone a plant.

3D PRINTER

The 3d printer is a machine used to analyze fossils collected from sedimentary rocks and print their complete skeleton from the data collected. You can craft the 3d printer using an iron block, a glass block and a ink sac on a regular crafting table.

To craft the complete skeleton of a dinosaur you need to put a fossil and a bone into the 3d printer.

DINOSAURS

The Lost Fauna Addon has so far added 19 species of prehistoric creatures that once inhabited Brazilian territory. Some species like the Berthasaura are calm and peaceful, while others like the Pycnonemosaurus are ferocious apex predators, so keep in mind what kind of dinosaur you're going to bring back to life.

FIRST DINOVOTE WINNER: TAPEJARA

TAPEJARA WELLNHOFERI

Tapejara (from a Tupi word meaning "the lord of the ways") is a genus of Brazilian Pterosaur from the Cretaceous Period (Santana Formation, dating to about 127 to 112 million years ago). Tapejara crests consisted of a semicircular crest over the snout, and a bony prong which extended back behind the head. It was a small pterosaur, with a wingspan of approximately 1.23–1.3 metres (4.0–4.3 ft).

TAPEJARA TAMING AND EUDICOT:

Tapejara can be tamed with Eudicot fruit, a new plant added in the update, and can be grown with salmon.

SECOND DINOVOTE WINNER: OXALAIA

OXALAIA QUILOMBENSIS

Oxalaia is a genus of spinosaurid theropod dinosaurs that lived in what is now northeastern Brazil during the Cenomanian stage of the Late Cretaceous period, between 100.5 and 93.9 million years ago. Its only known fossils were found in 1999 on Cajual Island, in the rocks of the Alcântara Formation, known for its abundance of fragmented and isolated fossil specimens. The remains of Oxalaia were described in 2011 by Brazilian paleontologist Alexander Kellner and colleagues, who assigned the finds to a new genus containing only one species, Oxalaia quilombensis .

Oxalaia has a neutral temperament as an adult, actively attacking only pterosaurs and some fish.

Oxalaia can be tamed through coelacanth fillet. Coelacanth spawns naturally in the seas of the overworld, and you will need to hunt them to be able to tame your Oxalaia!

THIRD DINOVOTE WINNER: GLOBIDENS

GLOBIDENS FRAASI

Globidens ("Globe teeth") is an extinct genus of mosasaurid oceanic lizard classified as part of the Globidensini tribe in the Mosasaurinae subfamily. Globidens belongs to the family Mosasauridae, which consists of several genera of predatory marine lizards of various sizes that were prevalent during the Late Cretaceous. Specimens of Globidens have been discovered in Angola, Brazil, Colombia, Morocco, Syria and the United States. Among mosasaurs, Globidens is probably most well known for the highly rounded, globe-like teeth that give it its name.

Globidens has a neutral behavior and only feeds on molluscs with shells, such as the nautilus, which spawn naturally in the oceans.

It can be tamed with ammonite tentacles, which you can obtain by killing any of the ammonite species added in this update, and to do so, you will need to find their fossils.

UPDATE 3.0 NEW SPECIES

TIETASAURA DERBYIANA

Tietasaura is a recently described small bipedal herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the Cretaceous period. Tietasaura is the first ornithischian ornithopod dinosaur formally described in Brazil.

TORUKJARA BANDEIRAE

Torukjara is a new tapejarid pterosaur described in Brazil, it lived in the Cretaceous period and was a little smaller than its more famous cousin tapejara. Its name is inspired by the flying beast Toruk from the film Avatar, directed by James Cameron.

SKIN VARIANTS:

FEMALE

MALE

DOMINANT MALE

UPDATE 4.0 NEW SPECIES

STAURIKOSAURUS PRICEI

Staurikosaurus is a small herrerasaurid carnivore from the Triassic period. It is one of the oldest known dinosaurs and was the first dinosaur to be discovered in Brazil.

AMMONITES

Ammonites are an extinct group of cephalopod molluscs that have hard shells, they vary greatly in size, shape and color. And in this update, 3 species have been added to decorate your aquariums! They are:

Axonoceras compressum

Sphenodiscus brasiliensis

Diplomoceras cylindraceum

RIDABLE DINOSAURS

So far the addon has 3 rideable species:

  • Spectrovenator
  • Pycnonemosaurus
  • Maxakalisaurus

More rideable species will be added in the next versions, as well as adding more saddles for some creatures that are already in the older versions of the addon.

PLANTS

The addon so far adds 5 species of decorative prehistoric plants to adorn the habitats of your dinosaurs (in the future the plants will have a more important function besides decoration and more species will be added to the addon).

PLANT SPECIES

CYCAD

TEMPSKYA

COOKSONIA
