Minecraft Bedrock on the Playstation 4: Why did Sony decline?
So last year at E3 2017, Microsoft announced the better together update for Minecraft which would unite mobile, PC and games consoles to one version. The 2 consoles this would come to would be Xbox One(We got that) and Nintendo Switch (soon). But the Playstation 4 is missing from this list. That is due to Sony declining the offer.
Why did Sony decline?
From the image above is a piece from a news article that Someone from eurogamer did with Jim Ryan did after the E3 briefing. As you can see, Jim explains that they blocked it as they have a contract with their players online and that they have to protect their players.
How is this different?
Well, fortnite recently announced that their game is coming to iOS and Android in a few months and that it would allow cross platform play between PC, iOS, Android and.... PS4. But strangly no Xbox One. But wait, PC versions require an Epic Games account. So that would mean for PS4 players to play with PC players it requires an Epic Games account. But werent Sony the ones who are worried for the safety?
What does this mean?
This can mean 2 things. Either Sony changed their minds about cross platform play and want it on all platforms.. OR that they are 100% against having Xbox Live on their platform.
