Nintendo Switch Bedrock Edition RELEASED!
That’s right the day has finally come. After months of anticipation from players and hard work from the developers, Switch Bedrock has officially released! Today June 21st, Switch Bedrock will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop (digital) as well as physical cartridges in game stores. The 'Day One' Update is 1.4.1. Prepare for the mega thread below…
The game will cost money for those buying now however those who own the Switch Edition will get Switch Bedrock for free.
What makes this release so special is that it fulfils one element of Minecraft’s agenda announced last year at E3 2017…cross-platform play! Few games have achieved this and few on multiple platforms, but Minecraft has with Nintendo Switch joining the following platforms; Xbox One, iOS/Android, Amazon Fire TV/Kindle, Apple TV, GearVR and HoloLens! Wow that’s a lot ;p
So what to expect with this release, well this release comes in the form of the 1.4.1 update. It comes with Phase 1 of the Update Aquatic features. Also, you Switch Bedrock players have access to the marketplace store where you can buy official Minecraft DLC, community creations, texture packs and more! Add-ons will also be available and will come as part of a world you download from the marketplace as well as any add-ons downloaded from cross-platform multiplayer.
Switch players will also have a Nintendo-exclusive DLC which is the Super Mario Mash-up pack. This cannot be played with other platforms.
This release however DOES NOT come with;
• Realms
• Servers
Those features will come a few days/weeks later with another update for the Switch Bedrock Edition. The game just came out of pre-release beta so there will be bugs and issues, but hopefully they will get fixed.
